Vanished People Reappear at Mirror Lake
For decades people have been disappearing in the beautiful and alluring Mirror Lake, leaving no human remains left behind. Though the mystery of their whereabouts brought much speculation from the public, scientists were hesitant to draw any conclusions. Until now…
Though the first group to reappear was only a small portion of those who had dipped into nowhere, they were certain of where they had been. Apparently, our wildest theories did not fall far from the truth: the vanished had actually teleported to another time, but it seems that not all of them had disappeared into our timeline.
Many members of the group have reported being in a historic period unknown to them, with presidents and leaders that are undocumented in our written history. The “vanished” each came back wearing something else, indicating that each had been cast off to a different place and time.
Some were excited and uplifted by what they had experienced, but others were beyond horrified.
Uma Toklin told the paper she had landed in what she believes was an alternate 2000 where the Internet had not been created. She describes a world still run on information controlled by large communication bodies and people with the means to manipulate that information to their advantage.
When she reappeared from a small pond on a farm in the state of Ohio, she was lucky enough to have been found by a kind teenager that gave her clothing and food. The girl hid Uma in her treehouse and brought her old newspapers from the library, so she could understand where she was.
Every night Uma would return to the pond, hoping that she would somehow get teleported back. But after a year she gave up hope of ever returning. Uma got a job at the local library and read everything she could about the new timeline. She forged a high school diploma and got accepted into the prestigious Galileo University of the alternate NYC, where she earned degrees in Physics, Engineering, and what they called Plantonomy.
Uma had accepted her fate. Though she missed her family, she started building a new life for herself, she was even weeks away from marrying a man she loved. But yesterday she had gone swimming at her local YMCA when she was suddenly pulled back to Mirror Lake without any warning.
We are learning more today about the universe then we know what to do with. What does this mean for our world? What will this mean for the future? We don’t have all the answers yet. But we would like to strengthen the authorities’ requests that people stay away from Mirror Lake, it might seem like an exciting adventure for some of you, but you may alter our timeline or some unknown dimensions just by eating an ice cream that was meant for someone else. We may already be living in an altered timeline and not even know it. Are we even we? Were we The Intergalactic Times???
