Toxic Spill Hits Orphanage and Creates Super Kids

By Sam Lustig

We all remember the unfortunate explosion of the underground biotech lab that seeped into a nearby orphanage along the countryside of New Maine.  After the spill, the children were all adopted and scattered throughout the world, which brought tears to all our eyes and a newfound hope in humanity. But now reality is challenging us one step further, as these former orphans have gained odd superpowers.

Paul Bright now seems to be able to open windows into the past. He cannot pass through these said windows, but he can view any event as it truly was. Mila Lolpenhym has been able to communicate with raw fabric materials and make them sew themselves into garments. Michal Nice has been able to skip very high, up to three stories. Although, it’s not as impressive as flying or turning the ground into a bounce house wherever you go, it is still quite impressive.

There were many more odd superpowers, such as hair becoming a delicious edible spice and super hip-hop dancing. But the real story behind this event has been the new parents’ reaction to these children.

Some are over the moon as they had hoped for such a ludicrous outcome, and this was perhaps the leading motive in their adoption of the children. Others are somewhat frightened by their child’s sudden ability to turn any type of food into cotton candy.  They have nightmares about their child's next dentist bill.

But a few already have plans to capitalize on their kid's talents and are trying to join forces to create a circus of sorts. Should a child who can turn water into chocolate work at a concession stand? I don't know. Should a girl who can read and shift your DNA around have a fortune booth? Would you pay to see an animal translator? How desperate are you to hear your dog’s thoughts?

Will this lead to intentional new spills or people dipping their bodies in toxic biowaste in the hopes of receiving a random superpower? Like the whole speedster debacle in Seattle? Which really just led to an array of people with extra limbs and horns.

It’s hard to say. It’s an odd world we live in and only bound to get odder.
