Dear Louise Column - June

By Louise Farfell

Dear Louise,

I hurt my leg while hover boarding over the Mauna Loa Volcano in Hawaii when it was warming up, after being dormant for so many years. It is a small burn, but the doctors have determined it is best to let it heal naturally, at home. I have been at home for two months now, watching my husband and children go to work, go out to dinner, plays, soccer games, to visit friends and neighbors. I am smiling, telling everyone I am okay, but I AM NOT. I have the "Stay at Home Blues".

Geeze Louise, what should I do?

Dear Hurt,

Remember that Ancient Book of Dr. Seuss, 'Oh, the Places We will Go?" Well, take a tip from that. Take virtual trips in your own imagination. Make a cake the old-fashioned way, using real ingredients. Read a book, if you can find one.

Contact your doctor, see what he says about walking around the house. From what I understand from you, it's a light burn and you should be on your feet soon: patience is your best friend.

Always,

Louise

Dear Louise,

My cousin, Mike, is marrying the love of his life, Steve. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the wedding. Would it be considered rude to have a few trees beamed up to his house as a wedding present?

Sign me Absent when needed

Dear Absent,

I think beaming up a couple of trees would be a lovely gesture. What a wonderful way for two partners to start their new life together.

Always,

Louise

Dear Louise,

Last week I was in my flying vehicle on the way home from work when a young man using newly purchased metal wings flew in the wrong direction and landed on my windshield, stopping me in mid-air and creating a domino effect on the cars behind me. I was not given a ticket but the driver of two cars involved are suing me. The young man has no insurance, no source of income.

What do I do?

Unlucky

Dear Unlucky,

I would contact the two drivers, explain the situation and see if you can come to some sort of compromise between you. Although the young man has no financial means, perhaps he can work off the debt by working a few days for each of you, free of charge.

Actions have consequences, and this young man should be learning responsibility. It is not up to you and the other drivers to pick up the slack.

Always,

Louise
